I like meeting new people but can also be overwhelmed at first which can cause me to be more on the reserved/shy side, but once I am comfortable, I love making connections with others. My best friend from home for the past 7ish years is Korean American and we both grew up in a mostly caucasian community which is why we bonded so well. I also really enjoy running for fun (shocker) and plan on running in this year's Pittsburgh 10-miler with a few of my friends! A few other hobbies that I enjoy are photography (i.e. taking ~aesthetic photos for ig for my friends and for myself and also of my dog), camping, kayaking, and thrift shopping. In my future (after grad school and student loans of course), I hope to work to help address the developing issue of global climate change and to help curate a plan that will help reduce the impact of humans on the earth on the household and industrial level. My ultimate dream job, however, is to be a National Geographic photographer, where I can travel around the world to experience and learn about natural ecosystems, as well as different cultures and traditions in various countries. Even though I do really enjoy nature, I consider myself to be a city dweller, and I enjoy the hustle and bustle of living in a city - and how its so convenient to go grab sushi or a boba (or if I really feel like treating myself, then both !). I am an adopted daughter to a single mom who has lived in the US her whole life, but I was born in Guilin, China. Being brought up in a more traditional American household, I don't have much of a database about my culture and traditions and don't have as many connections with other Asians via my family but I hope that through ASA, I can reach out to others and make new connections while learning more about Asian and Chinese culture. ”

I have no major so far but I'm really enjoying my Japanese class the most out of all my classes so that's really all I can point to as an academic interest at the moment. I'm a very introverted and shy person but I'm trying to break out more this year and meet new people. I'm really looking forward to being a part of a club like this because my high school never had any diversity focused or cultural clubs and it was always a struggle to find people who looked like me. I'm also a Chinese adoptee and have no exposure to my own culture, hopefully this environment can help me finally connect with part of my own identity.”

Moreover, I'm an introvert at first, but after I become more comfortable, I become an extrovert and I love to talk. Late night talks or coffee talks are one of my favorite things to do in my free time besides music. OH, I loveeee coffee (cafe sun da or an iced caramel latte) and tea (boba and peppermint).”
